Fajr, suhoor and iftar: reading the timetable

Choose your city to see local times for each day. Suhoor is the meal before dawn, and fasting begins at Fajr. Maghrib marks sunset and the time for iftar. Sunrise is a separate reference and must not be mistaken for the start of fasting. Times change throughout the month and between cities, so use the timetable for your current location, especially when travelling.

A calendar for your city

The timetable lists Fajr, sunrise, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha throughout the month. Times follow the selected city’s time zone and clock changes. Your city is estimated from your IP when you open this page; you can change it or use your location. If the suggested city is far away, choose a suitable location before using the calendar. Calculated times may differ from your mosque’s published schedule.

Preparing for Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth month of the Hijri calendar and lasts 29 or 30 days according to moon sighting. Plan your work, journeys, suhoor and iftar around your local timetable. Make time for prayer, Quran reading, family and giving to others. The Quran discusses fasting in Al-Baqarah, verses 183–185. For guidance about an individual situation, consult a qualified adviser.

Tarawih, the last nights and duas

Tarawih prayers take place after Isha. Congregation arrangements and starting times depend on each mosque: the calculated prayer times here are not iqama times. The last ten nights are especially significant, including the search for Laylat al-Qadr. Our Duas section includes Arabic text, transliteration, the meaning in French or English and a source for each supplication.

Finding a mosque and planning for Eid

Browse the mosque directory by country and city, check an address and open directions using GPS coordinates. Contact the mosque directly about tarawih, Eid prayer or local zakat al-fitr arrangements. Directory entries provide practical location information; they do not confirm opening hours or a Ramadan programme.
