This update focuses on Hamza Igamane comeback. Moroccan international Hamza Igamane has taken a major step toward his comeback, resuming ball work with Lille after a long injury layoff.
Hamza Igamane comeback moves into a new phase
The 23-year-old forward recently took part in an individual training session at Lille’s training center. The French club shared a video on its official social media accounts showing Hamza Igamane working with the ball, a positive sign of his physical progress.
He had suffered a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and had so far been focused on strength and recovery work. This return to technical drills marks a turning point in his rehabilitation.
Under the joint supervision of Lille’s medical and coaching staff, the Moroccan is advancing step by step. The clear objective is to return in shape without rushing, in order to avoid any setback.
A key player for Morocco and Lille
This injury kept Hamza Igamane off the pitch for many months and denied him a place with the national team at the 2026 World Cup. It was a blow for the player and for Moroccan fans who had been closely following his rise.
At Lille, his attacking profile is still highly anticipated to boost the team’s offensive options. For Morocco, his return to full competition could, in the medium term, reshuffle the deck in the forward line of the Atlas Lions.
For now, both club and player remain focused on the medical process. Igamane will only rejoin full team training once he has cleared every stage of his recovery.
What it means for Moroccans living abroad
For many Moroccans living abroad, the story of Hamza Igamane illustrates how football keeps the connection with home alive, even from afar. The form of Moroccan players in Europe often shapes family conversations, trips back to Morocco and evenings spent watching the national team.
Following this kind of comeback also matters for those who organize trips to Morocco around major football events. Many fans based overseas plan holidays to attend big national team fixtures at home.
In the medium term, the Hamza Igamane comeback could:
- increase competition for attacking spots ahead of future official tournaments;
- offer more options to the national team staff for games played in Morocco, which attract many visiting supporters;
- maintain the positive momentum around Moroccan players performing in Europe.

Final stretch before full competition
Returning to ball work is an important, but still intermediate, stage. Hamza Igamane must complete a gradual program before joining the full squad and then returning to official matches.
Supporters of Lille and the Moroccan national team are closely monitoring his progress. Each short video shared by the club generates a wave of encouragement, proof that the player has not been forgotten despite his long absence.
No precise timetable has been announced, but the mood is one of cautious optimism. There is still some way to go, yet the latest images confirm that the comeback of Hamza Igamane is getting closer.
