The 2026 compensation budget nearly exhausted by the end of July confirms rapid pressure on Morocco’s Compensation Fund. According to figures cited by Médias24, the envelope provided for in the finance law had reached more than 93% execution in seven months.

Compensation charges stood at 12.9 billion dirhams at the end of July 2026, representing an execution rate of 93.4%. The initial envelope entered in the 2026 finance law was 13.8 billion dirhams. These amounts refer to charges due, not payments already made.

2026 compensation budget nearly exhausted: what it means

The pace observed leaves little room for the rest of the year if the same pressures continue. In 2025, the total compensation charge reached around 19.2 billion dirhams. Compared with the amount budgeted for 2026, that already represented an initial gap of about 5.4 billion dirhams.

The Ministry of Finance mainly attributes this increase to direct support granted to transport professionals, intended to respond to higher fuel prices. This pressure is linked in particular to the conflict in the Middle East and the effects of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on energy products.

A topic to watch for Moroccans abroad

For Moroccans living abroad, this news is not only about public accounts. It may indirectly affect travel costs, transport services, temporary return plans and family budgets linked to stays in Morocco.

  • The Compensation Fund intervenes notably on butane gas.
  • It also covers support intended for transport operators.
  • The 2026 compensation budget nearly consumed requires close monitoring of the next budget figures.
